Panthers QB Newton Taken To Hospital After Auto Accident

According to the Carolina Panthers organization, Newton has suffered fractures to his lower back.

CHARLOTTE, NC (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Panthers QB Cam Newton taken to a local hospital after being involved in auto accident in Charlotte Tuesday morning according to several reports.

According to Charlotte Observer reporter Jonathan Jones only two vehicles were involved in the accident. Newton's truck, which he was driving, was 'overturned'.

The accident happened one block from the Panthers stadium.

The Carolina Panthers tweeted that the team is closely monitoring the crash and will have more information later on Newton.

Newton has 2,800 yards passing this season with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also has rushed for 425 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a 4-8-1 record.
