Oak Lawn Men Say They Were Chased By Fake Officer

DALLAS (CBS11) - Two men say they were involved in a high speed pursuit through North Dallas by a man they believe was a fake police officer.
They say it was five minutes of terror when they thought they were about to become victims of a hate crime, as the driver followed them down several streets early Wednesday morning.
Michael O'Neal says the unknown driver claimed to be a police officer, yelling gay slurs and threatening them with arrest.
"This guy literally just pulled up to us at the stop sign on Avondale and just started screaming at us saying hateful things to us calling us names," said O'Neal.
"He was telling us he was going to shoot us it was just really crazy I've never experienced anything like it before," said Caleb Kratzer who was with O'Neal.
Kratzer says he doesn't know what caused the man to target them as they continued drive through the predominately gay neighborhood.
But both men say recent hate crimes targeting their community has them on edge.
"Everything going on in the community right now is a really big deal," said O'Neal. "It's really scary."
The men say the driver of the SUV wore a police hat but his vehicle had Louisiana plates.
Quick thinking by the young men to capture it on video gives police crucial evidence.
"I thought it was going to end in a car crash or him attacking us," said Kratzer.
"Overall it was just really frightening," said O'Neal.
