FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A North Texas Tollway Authority committee has agreed on increasing the speed limits on the Chisholm Trail Parkway.

The committee unanimously recommends the city of Fort Worth's plan to increase the speed limits on the toll road.

Committee members say a speed study found that drivers can safely go 60 mph where the speed limit is currently set at 50 mph, and 65 mph where the limit is 60.

"The new speed limits will not take effect until the signage is adjusted" said Michael Rey with the NTTA. "We anticipate that sometime in mid to late September."

Rey says the full board will vote on it at its monthly meeting on August 17th.
