NFL Analyst Charles Davis: League Is 'Discombobulated'

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- NFL analyst Charles Davis doesn't believe the NFL has handled the domestic abuse firestorm properly, but he also believes the failures have nothing to do with effort.

Davis joined Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan Wednesday to discuss the recent developments, saying the league is trying to be proactive.

"This is one of those situations that we've all had in our lives, where no matter what you do, you can't get on top of whatever that tough situation has been in your life," said Davis. "That's where the league is right now. They're doing everything possible, but everything is strictly reactive. They're trying to be proactive and get ahead of it, and things keep happening that keep them from getting to that position."

The latest developments came Wednesday, when the Vikings placed RB Adrian Peterson on the exempt/commissioner's permission list, which bans him from all team activities.

That came just 48 hours after the Vikings announced that Peterson would practice and likely play on Sunday.

But the reaction from the public and sponsors seems to have affected the team's and league's decision, much like it did with Ray Rice.

"They are befuddled; they are confused. As my old college football coach Johnny Majors used to say, they are discombobulated right now. They just don't know what move to make."
