DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The tale of the Triplets ended in storybook fashion in September 2005 when Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin were all inducted to the Dallas Cowboys Ring Of Honor together.

"It was even more special going in besides Michael and Emmitt," Aikman said on the day of the induction.

"I can't write my life story without Emmitt and Troy," Irvin added. "They can't write their life stories without me. We're tied together forever."

Drafted by Dallas in the first round in three successive years -- 1988, 1989 and 1990 -- the trio led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl championships in four seasons.

The Ring of Honor proved to be a great motivator from the moment that Smith joined the Cowboys and walked into Texas Stadium for the first time. "I looked up to the roof and saw Bob Lilly. I looked up there -- Wow! -- and went all the way around the stadium," Smith remembered. "I said, one of these days, my name is going to be up there. Now it is."

The induction of the Smith, Aikman and Irvin into the Ring of Honor stands as the 24th greatest moment in Cowboys history.
