Mom Leaves Child In Car; Is Charged
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman who left her 2-year-old son in her car when she went into a bar in the 500 block of Gilpin Avenue Saturday night was charged with child abandonment and assault.
Diana Salinas, 28, entered the bar and confronted the child's father, Oscar Pacheco, according to police records.
Salinas and Pacheco got into a physical alteration outside the bar wherein Pacheco was hurt. In pain and bleeding, according to police, Pacheco fled the location in his truck and drove a short distance away to his home.
At some point during the melee, Salinas called a friend to pick up her son from her car at the bar. When her friend arrived, the car was still there, but the toddler wasn't inside. Thus, Salinas' friend called 911.
Officers arrived and searched for the him. At approximately 8:30 a.m, the young boy was found inside a nearby apartment with two witnesses. They told detectives that they saw the child inside of the vehicle and waited almost an hour for an adult to show up. When no one showed up, they took the child home with them. CPS took custody of the child and Salinas was arrested and charged with assault family violence and abandoning a child.
