Midland Train Crash Documents To Be Released
MIDLAND (AP) - The agency looking into last year's train collision that killed four veterans on a parade float in Texas is set to release documents from its investigation.
A release from the National Transportation Safety Board says the documents will be released Wednesday on the agency's website. They will include interview transcripts, photographs and other documents.
On Nov. 15, the veterans were riding on a flatbed truck hit by a Union Pacific freight train at a Midland crossing. The truck was the second parade float and part of a weekend for veterans wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq and their wives.
Most of the couples on the float are suing Union Pacific, alleging negligence.
Investigators say the float began crossing the tracks even though warning bells were sounding and crossing lights were flashing.
