Man Assaulted At Rangers Ballpark Following ALCS Win

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Arlington Police are looking for four men accused of assaulting a Rangers fan following the American League Championship celebration Saturday night.

Fort Worth resident Frank Platt said he was celebrating in parking lot "N" after the game. Platt and his wife Kacy said their celebratory mood quickly soured when four men – the only descriptor given thus far is that the men are in their early twenties –walked onto the lot.

Kacy Platt said she noticed one of the men had a dog. It was at that point when the situation turned ugly.

"They were jerking the dog around by its chain," Kacy Platt said. "They were kicking it, using foul language towards the dog. So, I spoke up and said, hey, guys, knock it off."

Frank Platt says he intervened when the men started to harass his wife.

"They threw a beer can at us and they kind of surrounded me. I was looking at one guy and that's when I got punched in the side," he said. "I kinda blacked out."

Platt suffered a broken jaw, broken leg and torn ligament. He's scheduled to have surgery at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. Doctors told him he would have to undergo months of rehabilitation.

"It was totally uncalled for," Kacy Platt said. "This has just been a nightmare."

Despite his injuries, Platt remains devoted to the Rangers and hopeful the suspects will be caught.

"I'm still a fan. I still love the Rangers. I'm going to watch the World Series and it hurts, but I'm fine. You may have hurt me physically – but you didn't hurt me spiritually," he said.

Both Rangers security and Arlington Police responded to the incident. Rangers said they ramp-up security during the post season and officers were still patrolling the area when Platt was assaulted.

Meanwhile, Arlington investigators are reviewing surveillance video that caught the assault.
