Local Mortgage Company Sued By Attorney General
The Attorney General's office is taking Coppell-based American Home Mortgage Servicing to court. Attorney General's spokesman Tom Kelly says in some cases they first told people they could restructure their mortgage to save their house, but he says that's not exactly what happened. "In reality what the company did is make it a lot more difficult for people to overcome their mortgage difficulties and put a lot of them in foreclosure." Kelly says the company is accused of violating debt collection laws in the collection of payments and violating the state's Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
