Living Large: Dans Bois Crete In Dallas

DALLAS (CBS11 NEWS) - A home truly made for a king.  The gorgeous Edwardian off of Inwood Road in Dallas sits on a five and half acre lot.  It's called the Dans Bois Crete -- translation "In the woods." And it lives its part with perfectly manicured lawns and perfectly trimmed bushes reminisce of the gardens of Versailles.

Just minutes from downtown, it's a retreat for the weary. It was rebuilt by current owners in 2009, it is listed for sale by Christy Berry of Briggs Freeman Sotheby's International Realty.

All of its six bedroom suites have a personal bathroom, coffee bar and its own fireplace. There are seven fireplaces in the house.

The dreamy powder room on the bottom floor is Berry's favorite, "It is all mother of pearl wall paper and venetian glass sconces," says Berry.

The home's 14,139 square feet area flows well from one space to another. The open foyer with an exquisite chandelier defines the house.

"The gold gilded ceiling in the main hall was painted by hand," says Berry. A hidden key lowers the grand fixture down for easy cleaning.

Several Baccarat chandeliers and scones adorn the house, including a rare one. "That's a black Baccarat chandelier which is very unusual," says Berry.

The dining room is truly fit for a king. The ceiling is a replica of the Basilica San Marco in Venice. The owners asked their interior decorator Rhonda Vander White to copy it. It is made of 13-inch thick Casci ornamental plaster gold ceiling cleverly hides sprinklers and lights within the design.

The bedroom is cozy. It has a separate sitting area and a screened outdoor area with a private garden. The most fascinating part of the bedroom is television on the tray ceiling above for viewing while lying in the bed. (no more stiff necks!)

The kitchen is a chef's dream. "We have a double wolf oven-6 burners. A full size sub-zero refrigerator and freezer," says Berry. " They usually entertain here and people just hang out in the kitchen."

The walls in the man cave are lined with ostrich leather. It has two TVs and a bar.

Why go to the theater when you have one at home?  This one has a replica of a concession stand with real candy in it and a ticket counter. The movie theater has plush royal blue velvet couches.

"The walls are done out of the grass cloth and they're sound proofed," says Berry.

But the highlight of the home is the ultimate wine cellar and a humidor.

"It holds 22 hundred bottles laying down, which is very unusual," Berry says. "It is humidity controlled, temp controlled and vibration controlled."

Now that's Living Large!
