Kroger Testing Online Ordering Service

INDIANAPOLIS (CBSDFW.COM) - Grocery store chain Kroger is expanding upon their idea to save shoppers some time. The company is currently testing an online ordering process for customers who are in a hurry.
Shoppers can log onto Kroger's website and select the groceries that they want to purchase. Place the order, and then head to the store. Workers will have all of your ordered items bagged and waiting to be picked up. They will even deliver the groceries to your car -- you don't even have to get out of your seat.
Orders can also be scheduled for future days and times, to meet your busy schedule.
Kroger claims to have more than 40,000 items available to order, including fresh meats and produce. And items can be saved to a list of favorites for easy ordering the next time.
The online ordering service costs an extra $4.95, and can be paid for using a credit card, debit card or Kroger Plus Card.
However, only a limited number of Kroger stores are now testing the service. It started late last year in Kroger's hometown of Cincinnati and is currently being rolled out in the Indianpolis area. More cities are expected to receive the online service in the future, but the company has no timetable for additional expansion.
