Is That Sunshine I See?
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - FINALLY SOME SUN!
After a foggy start to the day, skies have managed to clear some, especially from the DFW Metro to points west. This has allowed temperatures to warm into the upper 50s to near 60 where there is sun.
Overnight, clouds will move back in over most of North Texas before a weak cold front arrives just before daybreak. Look for lows tonight in the 40s.
Clouds should break again tomorrow over most of North Texas, and we'll warm into the mid 50s by afternoon. Look for another fairly mild Wednesday before another strong front arrives.
CHANCE OF RAIN THURSDAY, BUT WHAT ABOUT SNOW?
A pretty vigorous upper level disturbance working northwest to southeast will drive a strong Canadian cold front through our area on Thursday. Temperatures will start out very mild in the 50s and then fall all day to near freezing by afternoon. It will be one of those days where it will be warmer driving to work than heading home.
In terms of precipitation, about half of our computer models keep most of the precipitation in Oklahoma and not in Texas. The other half give us a decent chance of rain, especially in the morning. It all depends on how far south the upper level disturbance tracks: the farther south it goes, the better the chance for rain.
As temperatures fall during the day some of the rain will change over to snow, especially along the Red River. However, at this time, it looks like the precipitation should be wrapping up just as temperatures get close to 32 degrees.
We could see the rain mix briefly with snow as far south as I-20 before ending. This does not look like a repeat of a week ago, when several inches of snow accumulated. We'll watch subsequent data and let you know if this changes.
GET HEALTHY TEXAS… AND LAYER UP!
Temperatures should fall into the 20s by Friday morning with fair skies. Weather looks quiet but chilly as we head into the weekend. Look for a few high clouds with highs only in the 40s on Friday. By Saturday morning, our Get Healthy Texas 5K/1 Mile Fun Run will take place with temperatures in the upper 20s! Brr! We should warm back into the 50s during the afternoon.
