Hottest Weekend Yet

We drift upwards from "slightly above normal" to "HOT" this weekend and early next work week:

A 100° day in the forecast at DFW for tomorrow.. not the first time this season we've forecast that number but perhaps the first time we hit it. Other places around the Metroplex have already hit the psychological-number-that-says-hot this summer. Fort Worth (Meacham Field) hit 101° today, triple-digits for the 8th time this summer:

Here is how the weekend numbers look:

We have slowly been getting drier as the persistent ridge of high pressure continues to dominate our weather pattern. This weekend it moves right overhead:

Good news. Just as we close the month we talk about rain chances again. The ridge moves out to the desert southwest and opens us up for storms in the Central Plains to move into east Texas:

This won't produce copious rains but at least SOME rain. Last time we got any was on July 8th, the longest dry spell we've had this year. Here is your extended:
