Here's Comes the (Hot) Sun

YOU KNEW IT WOULD: HUMIDITY COMES SURGING BACK

After a couple of very comfortable days, the humidity values are coming back to stay for awhile.  A warm front will move through North Texas early Friday morning.  Our winds will shift out of the south & the gulf moisture behind the front should be immediately evident when you wake up and head out Friday.  That wind flow off the gulf should be with us for at least the next seven days.

BIT OF A CHOP ON AREA LAKES

A storm system will move out of the Rockies into the central U.S. over the next few days.  While this system will be too far to the north to bring us a chance of rain, it will help tighten the pressure gradient over Texas.  The result will be a few breezy days locally.  Friday through Sunday, south winds will be gusting 15-25 mph.  We should be below wind advisory criteria, but with several of you heading to area lakes or rivers to be on a boat, you need to be careful with the extra chop expected.

IS THAT SUMMER AT THE DOOR?

The upper-level weather pattern over the past several weeks has been very active over the south.  This is one of the reasons we've seen so many severe weather episodes.  And this is what often happens during spring.  During the summer, the jetstream moves way up into the northern U.S. and Canada.  At the same time, a subtropical high pressure ridge builds in over the southern U.S.  This is what's going to happen next week.  A huge summerlike high will anchor itself over the eastern U.S.  This will send any storm system way up to our north and protect us from any rain.  Our forecast is for very warm conditions to persist all weekend..and at this point, all of next week!

Tonight…Partly cloudy & turning more humid.  Low near 66.

Tomorrow…Mostly sunny, breezy & muggy.  High near 91.

Saturday…Partly cloudy, breezy & hot.  Temps 73-94

Sunday…Partly cloudy, breezy & still hot.  Temps 74-93

Memorial Day…Partly cloudy..you guessed it, still hot.  Temps 75-93

Next week…Clear to partly cloudy.  Lows in the mid 70s.  Highs in the lower to mid 90s.
