Heat Sticks Around, Rain Won't

We stick with our weather story of hot conditions and small rain chances through the weekend and into next week.  Windy and hot the next two days with temperatures close to 100 degrees and wind gusts close to 30 mph.

The weather picture from the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere shows our core of heat breaking down and shifting over the Southeast US and eventually out into the Atlantic Ocean by the weekend.  This will allow energy from the Northern Plains to drift southward and shear apart over the northern part of Texas by Friday.

Heat of the day storms are expected for parts of North Texas Thursday and Friday before intense heat rebuilds over North Texas for the weekend and into next week.  Highs will push close to 105 degrees and possibly break record highs Saturday through next Wednesday.  The rain chances will play out like this for the next three days:
