Heat Keeps Coming

We are in the midst of the longest dry spell we've had all year, 17 days since the last rain at DFW. All our rain came before May 31st. It's been sparse since:

We've had a remarkable run of 99° days at DFW, six of the last eight. Still... no 100° day logged at the airport. Getting to 99° SIX TIMES BEFORE we hit our first 100° of the season? That's never happened:

 

  

The high pressure ridge that has kept us hot and dry is shifting a little east, putting it right over head. That means it'll be a little hotter:

Then the ridge keeps drifting east, that'll help notch down the heat just a little bit. Then it starts moving west. On Wednesday we'll be close to 100 again:

Then the ridge takes a break and moves west in the Four Corner area. That will produce a northwest flow overhead. That opens the door to a possible frontal boundary or afternoon storms from the front range moving in during the overnight hours.

Until then we'll likely have gone three weeks without rain. You can see in the extended forecast below that the rain chances are looking very small:
