HURST(CBSDFW.COM) - Students from Hurst-Euless-Bedford Schools are on a mission to heal.  They're using their artistic talents to help ease the pain of being in an emergency room.

"We decided to go with the paisley print and the cherry blossom," says Miranda Rose, a 6th grader at Shady Oaks Elementary in Hurst.

"I get to make somebody feel better," says Rose.  "I get to do something that I love."

More than 100 ceiling tiles at Texas Health H-E-B's emergency room have been transformed into art.  The objective here is not only to beautify the hospital, but most importantly to offer patients soothing sites.

"It's great it heals and it brings some color to the department and it makes people feel better," says nurse supervisor Beth Stewart.

Art teacher Carrie Weaver guided the students on the project.  She says the final product has far surpassed her expectations.

"I'm overwhelmed with the art work that is here," says Weaver.

It's art work that will stay here for a very long time to the benefit of the patients that will come through this emergency room.

"I thought this was a great way to paint because you get to make somebody feel better and you get to do something that you enjoy," says Rose.
