Great View Of Ice Pack In North Texas

The clear skies today allowed for some melting thanks to the sunshine.  But it also gave us a great snapshot of the extent of the ice pack over North Texas.

Below is an image taken from one of the weather satellites.  I have made the land black to show the contrast.  But the white shading you see on the map is not cloud cover, it is the ice and snow pack.  Click on the image to make it larger and see the extent of the ice.

That ice pack and snow cover has an impact on high temperatures.  Everyone saw 100% sunshine today.  But some of the sun's solar energy went to melting the ice and not heating the Earth.  That meant that where ice pack is in place temperatures were not as warm.  Below are the high temperatures for today.
