FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fans of the hit TV show "Gilmore Girls" were lined up outside of Buon Giorno Coffee in Fort Worth on Wednesday morning for a special treat. The cafe's decor was changed out -- for one day only -- to resemble the Luke's Diner location from the show.
Hundreds of people were lined up when the downtown coffee shop opened its doors at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and the crowd overflowed into the parking lot. The line was still out the door more than four hours later, as lunchtime neared. The fans were eager to step back in time and grab a drink at a familiar TV locale.
The one-day remodel included Luke's Diner signs, aprons, backwards caps and coffee cups. There was even a special surprise for patrons underneath the custom "Gilmore Girls" coffee sleeves.\
"I got my husband addicted," laughED fan, April Lyons.
Netflix remodeled more than 200 coffee shops nationwide to celebrate the show's revival.
Buon Giorno gave away 250 steaming cups.
"I think it's a really fun way to get the word out," said General Manager, Courtney Reed.
"Gilmore Girls" a year in the life" premieres November 25. Fans related to the mom and daughter duo navigating work, school, romance, and life.
"It's always been my favorite TV show. I grew up in Connecticut," added Reed.
Some really big "Gilmore Girls" fans even showed up with special shirts made just for the Wednesday occasion. "As soon as we found out they were having it, we found someone yesterday to make the shirts and I picked them up after work," said TV show fanatic Alejandra Witherspoon.
The coffee shop transformation came courtesy of the online streaming television service Netflix. They are doing this makeover with more than 200 shops across the nation ahead of a "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" revival program. That show is set to premiere on Netflix on November 25.
