Former Texas Trooper Guilty Of Stalking Ex-Wife
FORT WORTH (AP) - A former Texas trooper faces up to 30 years in prison for stalking his ex-wife in a case where a fake online profile of the woman led men to her door expecting sex.
The penalty phase resumes Thursday in Fort Worth for Kevin Safford.
A jury late Wednesday convicted Safford of two counts of stalking and one count of online personation. Each count carries a maximum 10-year prison term.
Safford and Lawana Siney divorced in 2009. He had denied the criminal allegations.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Siney testified that men starting calling her at work and showing up at her home shortly after the divorce.
Safford was a Department of Public Safety trooper for four years until surrendering his peace officer's license in 2000.
