Former DFW Cop Pleads Guilty In Steroids Case
DALLAS (AP) - Prosecutors say a former North Texas police officer faces up to three years in prison for tipping off a suspected steroids dealer who also allegedly was his supplier.
A federal judge in Dallas on Tuesday accepted the plea deal from Brent Dickey of Burleson. The former Alvarado officer pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony.
Dickey in February 2010 was helping investigate drug cases in Johnson County. Prosecutors say Dickey knew a certain person was unlawfully selling anabolic steroids but didn't turn in the suspect. Dickey alerted the suspect after learning another officer planned to arrest the individual. Further details about the suspect weren't immediately released.
Dickey, who resigned in 2010 before being arrested, remains free on bond pending sentencing.
Alvarado is 20 miles southeast of Fort Worth.
