Colorado Patient Tests Negative For Ebola
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBSDFW.COM) - A patient exhibiting symptoms of Ebola was admitted to a Colorado hospital on Wednesday, but tests came back negative for the virus.
The person, who has not been identified, was taken in a specially equipped ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, located north of Denver, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
"CDPHE is currently conducting an Ebola test, and results should be known on Thursday morning," the agency said in an early morning news release. "The patient also is being evaluated/tested for other conditions."
The agency later said that those tests came back negative.
Officials said that the patient had recently traveled to an Ebola-affected country. "While the patient is considered to be at low risk of infection with the Ebola virus, the patient is in an isolated and secure area away from other patients, staff and visitors during the evaluation process," the agency said.
Texas became the center of international attention in October 2014 after a patient was diagnosed with Ebola and later died at a Dallas hospital.
