East Texas Man Found Guilty Of Scalding Boy
TYLER, Texas (AP) — An East Texas jury has convicted a man who forced a 2-year-old boy into scalding water because the child urinated on himself.
Jurors on Wednesday found 25-year-old Timothy Choice of Tyler guilty of first-degree felony injury to a child. Choice faces up to 99 years in prison when he is sentenced later this week.
Authorities say Choice forced the boy's feet into the hot water in 2013. His former girlfriend's son suffered second- and third-degree burns.
Experts say the burns will likely have a life-long physical and mental impact on the boy. Choice's attorney says the injuries were not as serious as the prosecution argued and the child only spent two days in the hospital.
