Driver Killed In Fort Worth Crash On I-35W

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -- A driver in Fort Worth was killed early Monday morning after he lost control of his vehicle and became wedged underneath an 18-wheeler.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-35W at the ramp to eastbound Loop 820 around 5:20 a.m. Police say the victim is a male in his late 20's.

Matt Zavadsky with MedStar says three people were injured in the crash.

"The person who died at the scene was in a sports car. One of the patients was in the tractor trailer," said Zavadsky. "There may have been another person involved in this crash as well."

Investigators say the man lost control of his vehicle, hit a barrier, then became wedged underneath an 18-wheeler. Firefighters worked to extricate the deceased victim.

The freeway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as Fort Worth Police investigate.
