Don't Cut Tier One's

University leaders tell lawmakers that money shouldn't be cut from efforts to elevate more universities to tier one status.  Right now the state only has two public tier one universities but the state is also facing a budget crisis.  UT Dallas President David Daniel says that budget problem shouldn't get in the way of working to elevate school's like his to tier one status.  "We must build more great research universities or the pressure on UT and A&M will become, I think in real terms and in political terms, simply overwhelming."  He says if that doesn't happen it will mean more students leaving Texas and could mean a loss of job growth with companies going to state's where there are more educational opportunities.
