Dana White Picks Mayweather Now, Pacquiao 5 Years Ago

105.3 THE FAN -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao is one of the most anticipated boxing matches ever.

UFC President Dana White says he's trying to secure tickets to the May 2 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Odds-makers have installed Mayweather as the favorite.

White agrees -- at least today.

"Five years ago, Manny Pacquiao wins that fight. Now, I think Floyd Mayweather does," said White with Shan Shariff on 105.3 The Fan.

Unlike boxing, White and the UFC have control over who and when competitors face-off against each other.

Had that been the case in boxing, Mayweather-Pacquiao might have happened years ago, when Pacquiao was a much different fighter.

"I don't think Floyd wanted that fight five years ago. He wants it now, but he didn't want it five years ago," said White. "Manny Pacquiao was just as fast as Floyd and hit harder than Floyd. He could have knocked him out. Now, Manny slowed down and hasn't been as consistent as Floyd...it's not the same fight."

White certainly won't be wagering on the fight. In fact, his advice is to simply avoid gambling all together.

"As much as you hear about me winning, I've taken some big ones on the chin too."
