Hazmat Crews Respond To Acid Leak In Fort Worth
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -- Hazmat crews responded to an acid leak at a concrete plant in north Fort Worth on Thursday morning.
The leak occurred just before 8 a.m. at a plant at 3400 Bethlehem.
A vent malfunctioned, releasing an excess amount of muriatic acid gas -- a strong, corrosive form of hydrochloric acid.
Employees smelled the gas and called authorities.
Seven workers at the scene were treated and released after having respiratory complaints.
Officials say the tank will be pumped out and repaired prior to refilling.
