Could This Be August??

What a Monday!!  Great weather today.  Morning lows in the 60s!!  Sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.

Quiet weather on a Monday after Saturday's flash flooding topped weekend weather headlines.  Rainfall totals were 2.5"-3.5" across Dallas.  The clouds kept the official high at DFW to 87 degrees…the coolest high of August and the coolest high since early June.

This week will have three rainmakers to track:  one Tuesday, one Friday and another Sunday.  The first may bring isolated storms for northwest areas late tonight and spotty showers for tomorrow morning's commute, but bring best rain chances Tuesday afternoon.  Showers with a few storms and a minimal severe weather threat.  The air will be pretty dry tonight and tomorrow and this will minimize rain chances (20 percent) and rainfall amounts (.10 to .25 inches).  Additionally, the cloud cover tomorrow should keep highs in the 80s Tuesday.

Second rain chance is late Thursday to our northwest along a front that will stall there.  Right now, Thursday's storm chances don't look impressive and as the front holds to our northwest even Friday afternoon's storm chances are not all that impressive either.  The front will be attached to a system pushing through the Northern Plains and into the western Great Lakes.  That's where most of the energy will go, but with the dying front still around North Texas on Saturday 20 percent chance storms are possible during the heat of the day.

The third rainmaker is yet another front attached to a system tracking through the Northern Plains.  Again, most of the energy is well north but it could trigger heat of the day storms Sunday afternoon.  Right now, the chance looks 10 percent or less.

Monday - sunny and 91.  Winds:  NE 3-8 mph.  Level Orange Air Quality Watch.

Tuesday - cloudy and 87.  Western areas holding in low 80s.  20 percent rain chance.

Wednesday - sunny and 91.  Winds:  SE 5-10.

Thursday - mostly sunny and 93.  10 percent storms only for northwestern North Texas.

Friday - partly cloudy and 95.  20 percent afternoon storms western half of North Texas.

Saturday - partly cloudy and 94.  20 percent afternoon storms all of North Texas.

Sunday - mostly sunny and 96.  10 percent afternoon storms western half of North Texas.
