Consumer Justice Flips Switch On Solar Panel Fight

EULESS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Euless man has fought to get his brand new solar panels turned on for five months.

George Jetton showed CBS11 his brand new solar panels during a recent sunny day.

"Right now it's all getting sunshine," said Jetton.

For Jetton, the sun is doing nothing to power his panels.

"It's the warmest winter in 80 years and I still get the highest bills I've ever had," said Jetton.

Jetton had Solar City install 56 panels in early October.

"I put the solar panels on to reduce my electric bills, because I am a 100 percent electric right now," said Jetton.

Jetton said the final inspection was October 20, 2015 but the panels still aren't turned on.

"I got the green slip and everything passed, been ready for Oncor to turn the power on and they won't do it," said Jetton.

Jetton said Oncor has blamed Solar City and Solar City has blamed Oncor.

"It's really frustrating and there's no excuse for it," said Jetton.

CBS11 reached out to Oncor, and a spokesman said they were first notified about the project on October 16, 2015.

The spokesman said Solar City didn't notify the company that the project was complete until December 30, 2015.

Oncor said they had to complete a "service study" after they were notified because of the size of the project.

Solar City never returned CBS11's request for a comment on the delay on notifying Oncor but they did send a technician out to turn on Jetton's solar panels.

"I'm very lucky I called you and that I watch Channel 11 all the time," said Jetton.
