Cold Wind Blows In Tonight, Back To Mild Next Week

A cold front packed with gusty north winds will replace our gusty south winds later this evening.  You'll notice the wind shift between 6p and 8p tonight.  The north winds will be strong overnight, gusting up to 30 mph as temperatures drop into the 30s.  More sunshine on tap for Saturday, but a cooler day…but not terribly cold…or as cold as we could be for January let's say.  We'll be milder again by Sunday and downright warm again for most of next week.  An upper level system will approach North Texas by midweek next week with a slight chance of rain.  This does not look like a repeat of this week's rain event where widespread rainfall amounts of 3-5" occurred.

MILD JANUARY SO FAR

If you've been asking "Where's winter?", you're not alone.  The average temperature so far this month has been 50° (when you average out all the highs and lows).  Normally it would be about 46°…so we're about 4° above normal for January.  If the month ended today, it would be the 14th warmest January on record at DFW.  For comparison's sake, in January 2011, the average temp was 43°…or 3° below normal and the 25th coldest January on record.

Tonight…Fair skies, but windy & chilly.  Low 38°  North wind 15-30 mph.  Wind chill: 28-32

Saturday…Mostly sunny, windy early.  Cooler.  High 53°  North wind relaxing to 5-15 mph by afternoon.

Sunday…More sunshine.  Milder.  High 61°

Monday…Increasing clouds & windy.  High 65°

Tuesday…Partly cloudy.  High 70°

Wednesday…Partly to mostly cloudy.  20% chance of rain.  High 71°
