Cold Rain Today, Light Mix Tonight
If you are looking for some snow to walk around in you'll have to look to the west and northwest of our area:
This morning a windy, cold rain will rule the weather story. This rain will let up this afternoon but temperatures will stay in the low-40's after a brief dip mid-morning
Wind gusts this morning have been close to 30-mph making visibilities even more of a problem. The rain intensity and gusty winds will diminish this afternoon:
This morning CBS11 Radar shows a rain/snow line up in the Wichita Falls area. We expect that line to move a little closer into our northwest counties from Montague over to Palo Pinto. We don't expect road problems with temperatures staying above freezing in these areas:
By late afternoon and tonight the precipitation will become more light in nature. It'll also become more of a wintry mix. Expect rain with ice/snow across the metro area but light amounts. By tomorrow morning we'll likely see some flurries and occasional drizzle/light sleet. Temperatures will again be staying above freezing so we don't believe there will be any icing to worry about:
If there are to be any road impacts by the end of the day and through tomorrow morning it'll be likely confined to our northwest counties:
Even the most aggressive forecast model shows very moderate snow amounts along our western counties by late tonight. At point even this amounts look inflated:
Mostly we'll simply reap the benefit of a very good rain; much needed for our area as we enter our 5th year of drought:
By this weekend this threat of winter weather will be a distant memory. After some flurries/mix in the morning tomorrow we'll have the skies clear out some by afternoon. Expect warmer weather and sunshine both Saturday and Sunday:
Here is your extended forecast. Warm start to next week!
