Cold Mornings, Cool Days for Holidays
The fog of last cleared away just after midnight around the metro area thanks to a cold front moving through. Lows bottomed out just above freezing at DFW Airport. It was the first full day of winter and it felt like it. It stayed cold all day long thanks to the brisk north wind. Highs stayed in the low 40's as wind chills stayed in the 30's.
The winds are going to diminish down to N 5-10 overnight and become near calm by daybreak. Temperatures will drop down to the 20's across north Texas. There will be a thick frost on the cars:
The dry air and ample sunshine will allow temperatures to jump to the upper 40's to around 50°. The winds won't be as strong, in fact most of the day they'll be only around 5-mph out of the NE. These are temperatures slightly below normal for this time of year.
Not much weather to talk about for the holiday week ahead. After another cold start on Tuesday morning will have another high close to 50° if not just a little above. A weak cold front arrives on Christmas afternoon; we'll have highs in the mid-50's before it comes through. It won't produce much more than clouds as it looks now; I've dropped the slight rain chance I put in yesterday. It looks like the next chance of rain will be on Sunday when a strong cold front comes through. The below-normal temperatures look to be the theme until the New Year:
