Coalition Concerned Over 75 Widening Project
RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) - Four mayors and two Collin County commissioners are drafting a letter to the Texas Department of Transportation, expressing concern over plans to widen Highway 75.
The state agency is studying ways to accommodate the growing number of drivers, between LBJ and the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
Most options it has proposed would require expanding Highway 75, in some cases as much as 80 feet in each direction.
The mayors of Allen, McKinney, Plano, and Richardson, along with Collin County Commissioners Duncan Webb and Cheryl Williams appear named as authors in a still unsigned letter.
It opposes "requiring significant acquisition of right-of-way that would result in substantial short and long term damage to local communities in the corridor."
