BP Executive Back On Stand In Oil Spill Trial

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A BP executive who led the company's internal probe of its 2010 blowout in the Gulf of Mexico is expected back on the stand for another day of testimony.

Mark Bly was BP's executive vice president for safety and operational risk. His testimony is set to continue Thursday. Bly was BP's executive vice president for safety and operational risk until recently.

He said the internal investigation wasn't intended to look at the disaster through the "lens of responsibility."

Attorneys for the U.S. government have said the London-based company bears most of the blame for the spill and they accused BP of putting profits ahead of safety. BP says drilling in the Gulf is a team effort and its partners should share in the blame for the disaster.
