Baylor Ties Big 12 Baseball Win Streak Record
WACO (AP) - Baylor has set a school baseball record and matched the Big 12 mark with its 21st consecutive victory.
The Bears (32-7) set the mark Wednesday with an 11-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, a game called after seven innings because of the 10-run rule.
Since Big 12 baseball play began in 1997, Baylor and Texas (in 2010) are the only teams to win 21 straight.
It was career victory No. 651 for coach Steve Smith, who the previous night passed predecessor Mickey Sullivan for the most wins in any sport in Baylor history.
Brad Kuntz (4-2) allowed a leadoff single to start the game, then held the Islanders next 18 hitless before two relievers each worked scoreless innings.
Baylor plays Friday night at Texas A&M.
