AUSTIN (AP) — A former Austin teacher is accused of having improper relationships with two students.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that the 28-year-old former Westlake High School math teacher, Haeli Wey, faces two felony counts of improper relationship between educator and student.
Arrest documents say a 17-year-old victim told authorities he had sex with Wey about 10 times between August and September.
The sheriff's office said Wey also kissed and had sexual contact with another 17-year-old student on a hike.
Wey was booked into the Travis County Jail on $75,000 bail for each count and was in custody Thursday afternoon.
It wasn't immediately clear if Wey has an attorney. Texas law says sexual contact between a certified teacher and a student could be punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
An investigation is ongoing.
