A Quiet Christmas Weather Week

It will be rather uneventful in North Texas when it comes to the weather for Christmas this year.  The past several Christmas Days have been pretty chilly.  We've also had a couple of bouts with snow and ice for Christmas too.  One in 2009 and one last year, of course.  Last year, there were some areas that recorded 4-6" of snow!

This year, it will be sunny and cool for Christmas Day...near freezing Christmas morning

We're not expecting any rain for the remainder of 2013.  It's been another dry year.  We ended up with a nice surplus of rainfall for the month of December.  But since 2011, we've seen a rainfall deficit of over 21 inches!  In fact, this is the first time since 1986-88 that DFW has had three consecutive years of below-normal rainfall.

For tonight, it will be quite cold again, with temperatures below freezing across all of North Texas.  We will probably see some more patchy frost by Tuesday morning.  Expect clear skies and light wind.

Gorgeous weather for celebrating with family or doing last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve Tuesday...lots of sun.

If you're doing any traveling to the northern U.S. or the Midwest, pack the long johns.  There will be a chance of snow near the Great Lakes.

Christmas Day will be snowy in the Midwest, rainy in southern Florida, and warm in southern California.

This is a very quiet weather pattern we're in for the next week to 10 days.  I'm not expecting rain until the second day of 2014.  It will warm up a bit by the weekend, but then temperatures will drop again by the start of next week.
