7 Local Stores To Close As Borders Books Goes Broke
DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Seven Borders bookstores in North Texas will be shutting down as the company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The chain is closing two Dallas stores -- at Royal and Preston and on McKinney in Uptown -- as well as one store each in Plano, Mesquite, Colleyville, Lewisville and Burleson. Other local locations will remain open.
The company is closing 200 stores nationwide. The 40-year-old chain has been struggling to compete with Amazon and Barnes and Noble stores, not to mention electronic devices.
