May Rains Quick to Show

It's the start of a new month. May is on average our wettest month of the year. This on the heals of the first month this year that registered above normal rainfall. Though we are anticipating above-normal rainfall this month it's not likely it'll be anything like last May (the wettest May on record):

.

We've yet to hit 90° for an afternoon high at the DFW Airport. Though it doesn't appear we'll get even close to that mark this week May is the month we start seeing a glimpse of the hot Texas weather:

But today it'll be very, very pleasant. The north wind has continued to drop the dewpoints. Lots of sunshine, a nice breeze and highs in the mid-70's... that's a nice start to May. We'll keep an eye to our southeast late today and tonight for a slight risk of strong storms:

Overnight we'll watch to our southeast as rain chances (and a few storms) move in from the Gulf:

There is a shortwave moving in quickly from the west that produces a 40%-50% rain chance for Monday. Almost all of this rain will fall in the first half of the day:

Below you'll see how the rain chances distribute over north Texas. Also notice that while we have some storms in the forecast the main threat will be lightning, not heavy rain or severe weather:

High pressure from the northwest quickly comes in behind the rain as we clear out end of day. And so will start a run of nice May weather; staying dry for the work week:
