Weekend Storms Possible
It was the hottest day of the week today with highs at DFW hitting 100° for the first time since last weekend. At 5pm it was still at 100° at DFW:
We'll have the temperatures fall back into the 80's this evening under mostly clear skies and moderate south/southeast winds:
We've talked all week about the shift in the weather pattern over the United States and how it affects our weekend. As a trough deepens over the Great Lakes, High Pressure over the Southwest moves just a little to the west. This allows storms that are forming on the northern edge of the high to make a run into eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas. This storm track will be close enough to the north Texas to produce storms here:
We'll put storm coverage at 20% but these storms could produce very strong winds and lots of lightning. I would not be surprised to see a few T'storm warnings on both days, especially during the afternoon and early evening:
