Houston police began searching for Shanally Flores after officers found her mother's body in her north Houston apartment around noon on Tuesday.
The child is identified as Dominic Payne, 2 years 11-months-old. Dominic was taken by Porscha Dodson, 27.
Kirk Patrick Keshler faces up to 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release. He will remain in custody pending sentencing which is set for April 4, 2018.
