A 46-year-old man admitted to Dallas homicide detective that he shot and killed 55-year-old Gary C. Dotie Thursday night.
"This incident is of immense importance to our community and has generated questions that deserve answers," Austin Police said in a statement.
All three detention officers are suspended while criminal and internal investigations are ongoing.

Jonathan Malone, who had dashcam video recording, said he swerved off the road to avoid getting hit.
