Michael George

Michael George is a four-time Emmy award-winning anchor and correspondent, and currently the anchor of "CBS News Mornings," CBS News' early morning newscast. He is also a correspondent for CBS News and a fill-in anchor for "CBS Mornings," "CBS Saturday Morning," CBS News 24/7, and the "CBS Weekend News."

George joined CBS News in 2020 as a correspondent.

During his more than two decades in journalism, George has covered such national and international stories as the George Floyd Black Lives Matter protests in Minneapolis, Hurricane Ida in New Orleans, and the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in Washington. He's also reported extensively on national politics, including the inauguration of President Joe Biden in 2021, his election in 2020 and the election of President Donald Trump in 2016.

Before joining CBS News, George was a reporter at WNBC in New York (2013-2019), an investigative reporter for WFTS in Tampa, Florida (2010-2013), a reporter at WTMJ in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2006-2010), and a political reporter at KFYR in Bismarck, North Dakota (2005-2006).

His work reporting from the scene of the mass shooting at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 2017 earned him two New York Emmys for Breaking News and Spot News Reporting. He also earned a Suncoast Emmy for Investigative Reporting for his work locating missing children, and an Emmy for Education Reporting for exposing corruption in the for-profit college industry.

The son of immigrants, George is also an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association and uses his reporting to highlight stories of representation.

In his personal time, George brings his passion for storytelling to his food blog, "Mike George Eats The World," where he both travels the world and learns to cook dishes from every country. So far, he's highlighted food from 121 countries.
