"If I am confirmed, I commit to you that I will work productively to support and defend the Constitution and the grand experiment of American democracy," Jackson said.
GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina was filmed telling supporters that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a "thug."
"This is a very serious step and as you heard our president say, we won't take that lightly," Austin said.
The call lasted nearly two hours Friday morning.
