In the aftermath of the Georgia school shooting, we set out to ask education students and professors how the threat of school shootings impacts their feelings about working as teachers. Coupled with low salaries, the responsibility for protecting students in the face of gun violence is a heavy burden for educators to bear, but some say there's still nothing else they'd rather be doing.

It's easy to focus on building security when it comes to preventing school shootings. Still, CBS News investigators looked through decades of data and found that the majority of these deadly incidents occur outside of campus buildings.
