The 49ers face a team Sunday that John Madden believes is the best in the NFL right now.
The Thursday night game between Arizona and St. Louis is important for teams other than the division-leading Cardinals.
The 49ers season is still not over. They can still make the playoffs, and even if unable to do that still need to show the rest of the NFC West where they stand. The team needs to forget about the past two weeks and focus on a strong finish as things could still fall their way before it's all said and done.
With all the talk about the Oakland Raiders acquiring San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh in a trade for draft picks, few seem to be considering the possibility the Silver & Black might retain Interim Head Coach Tony Sparano. One thing is certain: With an inferior roster, Sparano out-prepared and out-coached Harbaugh last week as the Raiders beat the 49ers, 24-13. That has to count for something.
For the second time this season, the Seahawks and 49ers will meet. Both teams need a win for their playoff hopes, but it's the 49ers who are on the verge of being eliminated. San Francisco has not looked good the past two weeks and will need to quickly turn things around if they want to avoid their 3rd straight loss.
The Oakland Raiders broke their 16-game losing streak last month against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Coliseum, but now the Silver & Black go to Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri for the rematch. The Chiefs have lost three in a row, and they are on the verge of playoff elimination—they might blame the Raiders for that, so there's going to be some nasty waiting for Oakland this weekend.
After their 24-13 loss to the Raiders Sunday, the 49ers playoff hopes are slim with three games to play.
No one outside the Oakland Raiders locker room thought they had a chance to win the Battle of the Bay in 2015, but that's what happened Sunday at the Coliseum. The Silver & Black beat the San Francisco 49ers, 24-13, to win their second straight home game and improve their season record to 2-11.
The 49ers have hit rock bottom. While they are still in the playoff hunt, they dealt themselves a crippling blow losing to the Oakland Raiders. The team lost this one as a unit with the offense, defense and special teams all failing to show up.
San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh took exception to criticism of Colin Kaepernick following the quarterback's somewhat brief media session on Wednesday.
Compared to previous weeks, the Oakland Raiders have a little health momentum on their side heading into Sunday's home matchup with Bay Area rival San Francisco. Forget the Harbaugh intrigue for a few moments: The Silver & Black might be as healthy as they've been all years—not counting the players already on the season-ending IR, of course. Oakland always could use some of those players, but they're lost for the season, of course.
"I can't breathe," were the final words spoken by Eric Garner who apparently was choked to death by New York City police.
A 49ers fan who lost a cellphone at a recent game at Levi's Stadium tracked the phone's exact location, but her plea to get it back from stadium security fell on deaf ears.
The Oakland Raiders should have no interest whatsoever in "acquiring" Jim Harbaugh to coach their team in 2015, because they don't have enough talent to justify the move—in addition to the draft picks they would have to give up to get the fiery coach. No, the Silver & Black should look elsewhere for a new leader, and they'll need all their draft picks and current young players to attract the right coach, anyway.
The thought that Navorro Bowman could return to help the 49ers out this season does not appear likely. The only real impact he could have would be if the team makes the playoffs and that's a big if. When you put it all together, the best thing for Bowman and the 49ers is to call it a season and let him come back next year fully recovered.
In his weekly meeting with reporters Monday, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh didn't have much to say about reports he could be traded to the Raiders or Jets.
The 49ers travel to Oakland this week to take on the Oakland Raiders. This game means everything to the 49ers and nothing to the Raiders who will only look to ruin San Francisco's season as well.
Rumors are flying that the San Francisco 49ers might trade Head Coach Jim Harbaugh to the Oakland Raiders, and that's just the icing on the cake for this Bay Area rivalry. The 49ers need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, and the Silver & Black just need something to forget that beating they just took from the St. Louis Rams. The Sunday game at the Coliseum promises to be quite interesting.
"Personally, I think that's a bunch of crap." Remember those words? Spoken by Jim Harbaugh in September in response to Deion Sanders' report that the 49ers' locker room wanted their head coach out.
The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders head into a rare regular season matchup Sunday at O.Co Coliseum with two very different outlooks, at least for their fan bases.
After managing only three points against the Seahawks last week, the 49ers are looking for answers on offense as they get ready to play the Raiders Sunday.
