The San Francisco 49ers lost on the road to the Chicago Bears, 26-6, on a day when the once-proud organization quarterback tradition took a major hit. The 49ers totaled just six yards net passing in the loss, resulting in a franchise record no team with Head Coach Chip Kelly should be setting.

The San Francisco 49ers have a bad defense this season, and part of the problem has been a lot of injuries. Not only did the 49ers lose the heart and soul of the defense (NaVorro Bowman) earlier this year to a season-ending injury, but linebacker Aaron Lynch has been absent for most of the season due to suspension and injury. The S.F. organization has not been able to fill this void, and Lynch is still questionable for Sunday's game in Chicago.

The San Francisco 49ers have the worst defense in the NFL this season, both in points allowed and yards allowed. However, the team may get a boost on Sunday in Miami against the Dolphins, as linebacker Aaron Lynch could be ready to return from a month-long absence due to an ankle injury. Also, defensive back Jimmie Ward is questionable after experiencing concussion-like symptoms against the New England Patriots last week. The 49ers defense will need all the help it can get on Sunday in Miami.
In 2011, the San Francisco 49ers defense gave up just 14.3 points per game in the regular season, as the team went 13-3 and hosted the NFC Championship Game. In every season since then, however, the 49ers have gotten a little less intimidating on defense to the point that the San Francisco defense is the worst in the NFL in 2016. The team is giving up 31.3 points per game this year, which is a big reason for a nine-game losing streak that has the 49ers headed toward their worst season since 2004.

Few defenses embrace the challenge of facing quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offense, especially when injuries have depleted the starting lineup and the backup units. But that's the case for the San Francisco 49ers this weekend as they host the Pats at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The 49ers have the worst defense in the NFL, and with several defensive players still injured and on the mend, it's not the best time to face Brady and all his offensive weapons.
