Worker Killed In Accident At The Stevens Creek Quarry

CUPERITINO (KCBS)—Authorities are investigating a vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon at the Stevens Creek Quarry that resulted in the death of worker, police said.

"A male worker was transported to a hospital with injuries where he later died. We are currently investigating it as an industrial accident," Santa Clara Sheriff's Department spokesman Kurtis Stenderup said.

The victim's name has not been released and little information has been made available about how the accident happened.

The Santa Clara Sheriff's Department, Cal/OSHA, and the quarry company are investigating.

The fatal accident marks the second one in the South Bay this week. On Tuesday an elevator company worker was killed in an accident at the new 49ers stadium construction site in Santa Clara after being being struck in the head by a counterweight.
