Woman Shot At Santa Clara Apartment Complex; Husband Arrested

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) - A husband has been arrested after allegedly shooting and wounding his wife at a Santa Clara apartment complex late Tuesday morning, according to police.

The shooting was reported around 11 a.m. at the Royal Ambassador apartments at 3450 Granada Ave.

The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Santa Clara police said.

The man, identified as 52-year-old James Watson, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into jail. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday, police said.

Dave Sandoval, 44, who lives at a unit around the corner from the couple, said he didn't know the couple's names but said they are both in their 50s.

He said the wife kept to herself, but that he would frequently see the husband, who would often stop to pet Sandoval's dogs.

"He was a very nice guy," Sandoval said. "This is very shocking to me right now."
