Woman Hit By SUV While Crossing San Lorenzo Street

SAN LORENZO (CBS SF) -- A woman was injured when she was struck by an SUV while crossing a street in San Lorenzo on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Marelak Kierulf, 51, was crossing Hesperian Boulevard at Bockman Road in a crosswalk shortly after 8 p.m. when a vehicle making a left turn onto Hesperian hit her.

A witness told CHP investigators that the vehicle was a silver SUV and had a green light, and that Kierulf had a walk signal.

Kierulf was knocked to the ground, and the SUV did not stop and continued north on Hesperian Boulevard, CHP officials said.

Keirulf suffered minor injuries and was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

The CHP is investigating the collision and is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Daniel Jacowitz at (510) 581-9028.
